This deadline is not merely a legal procedure or a debate in the corridors of politics; it is a knife to the throat of the Palestinian dream and a direct threat to transform the lives of an entire people into a perpetual funeral. We are not talking about legislative texts, but a countdown to a legal massacre that will forever alter the lives of thousands of families. As the world moves on, anxiety devours the hearts of Palestinian families. There are only 90 days left before the decision to execute Palestinian prisoners – on paper, only those who will be convicted in the future, not those currently convicted, editor's note –entri in vigore, trasformando questa legge in una lama che minaccia la vita dei combattenti per la libertà.

“Anyone who causes the death of an Israeli citizen with the intent to end the existence of the State of Israel will be sentenced to death or life imprisonment.

This is the text of the legal article, as reported by Internazionale. Still from the magazine, we read that for Palestinians residing in the occupied territories of the West Bank, the situation is even more stringent: in cases where Israeli military courts qualify a murder as an act of , the death penalty will become the default punishment.

The execution of the sentence must take place within ninety days of the final judgment, with the possibility of extending the term up to one hundred and eighty.

The implementation of this decision means, in all its simplicity and horror, that every Palestinian mother who has spent decades sewing the shirt of reunion and waiting for the scent of her son on the doorstep will, in an instant, become a grieving mother collecting the remnants of her memories from behind death’s bars. Every wife who stood firm and raised her children in the hope that one day their father would open the door will wake up to find herself widowed by a treacherous political decree. As for the children who grew up touching photos of their fathers through the bulletproof glass of rare visits, they will be condemned to eternal orphanhood before they even grasp the meaning of the word “father.”.

This law transforms Palestinian homes from cradles of hope and anticipation into cemeteries of silent memories, where clothes, smuggled letters, and laughter preserved in photographs will be all that remains of men whom the world chose to ignore as they were executed in cold blood. Death does not only end the prisoner's life; it sows orphanhood in the heart of the child and mourning in the heart of the mother, leaving homes to feed on the hope of liberation that has suddenly transformed into open halls of grief.

Con questa decisione, Israele si pone al di sopra del diritto , practising organised state terrorism in which the judiciary is used as a tool for killing rather than for achieving justice.

Does the new law on the death penalty for Palestinians have retroactive effect?

No, but the Palestinians believe that it will be like that anyway.

How to read on DW.com, the death penalty law will not be applied retroactively, nor to alleged perpetrators of Terrorist attacks of October 7th

The world cannot remain silent in the face of this 90-day deadline; silence in this case is not neutrality, but direct complicity. We call on all human rights defenders to act immediately. Do not let prisons turn into human slaughterhouses, and do not allow politics to legalise cold-blooded murder. When this deadline expires, either human conscience will prevail and stop this massacre, or we will wake up to a tragedy of enormous proportions. Prisoners are not just numbers, and Palestinian homes are not just stones.

They are human beings who love, dream and await the dawn. Save the prisoners before every child's smile turns into an orphan's tear, and before the homeland drowns in a sea of never-healing memorial graveyards.
